Mr S was new to his role with his employers, but unfortunately a personal crisis struck and he had to be signed off work with stress and anxiety. About a month later his employers found that they risked losing a valuable contract for the business if Mr S’ duties were not fulfilled. Unfortunately Mr S was still unable to return to work in the short term, and so his employers felt they had to take the decision to terminate his employment so they could replace him and thereby hopefully rescue the contract in jeopardy.
Mr S’ employers therefore offered to terminate his employment on the grounds of medical retirement by way of a Settlement Agreement that included compensation for Mr S. With assistance from Compromise UK and Slee Blackwell’s Employment Team, Mr S was able to secure a positive reference as well as his statutory redundancy pay.
