Mr Y, from London, was promoted over his colleagues. This led to tension in their workplace. He had only worked for his employers for one complete year when his employers informed him his role was no longer required and he would be made redundant via a Settlement Agreement.
Mr Y instructed a Settlement Agreement lawyer at Slee Blackwell who advised there was potential for an unfair dismissal claim to be made against his employer. However, the sum of compensation in the Settlement Agreement greatly exceeded any award he was likely to receive in an Employment Tribunal. The Settlement Agreement was therefore signed off and two weeks later Mr Y received the promised compensation from his employer.
