Miss M found she was increasingly being treated unfavourably on the grounds of her disability, and even more so after she reported her manager’s misconduct. She lodged a grievance regarding this and her employers responded by offering a Settlement Agreement.

She was advised that she had potential claims against her employers in the Employment Tribunal for disability discrimination, unfair dismissal, and whistleblowing, albeit receipt of compensation via this route might not be forthcoming overly quickly.
Given the guaranteed four figure sum Miss M would receive within 14 days of the Settlement Agreement being signed and the guaranteed positive reference, she decided to accept her employer’s offer and signed the Settlement Agreement. The employer met all her legal costs.
